Farewell 2020

Wow! What a year 2020 has been. It has certainly been filled with lots of challenges far and wide! Many folks are happy to see the year 2020 finally come to an end.

But I have to say, for me and my family, it has been a good year. I'm not saying we haven't been challenged in unusual ways. But what I AM saying is that God has been good to us! He has been faithful to keep all of the promises in His Word. More on that in a bit.

On January 7th, of this year Connie and I were notified that we had 60 days to vacate the house we were leasing in Brunswick, GA. That in itself was the grace of God (the 60 days) because most folks want you out in 30 days. So we were faced with finding another house reasonably priced, in the local area, and then undertaking the daunting task of packing, and moving. As we looked for another home, God began to deal with Connie's and my heart about moving closer to her Mom in North Alabama. She is the last of our living parents and already into her elderly years. Moving to North Alabama would be an even greater task as we would have to go there first to secure a place to live.

I am grateful for the time we had to prepare because we took that time to fervently pray for God's direction. We were at a point at which it seemed like it was a simple toss-up as to which direction to go. But we've walked with God long enough to know we must hear His voice in making a decision like this. So we continued to pray!

About 3 weeks into this thing, I was walking in the mall one morning and God specifically spoke to me about which direction to take. He said to move to Alabama. I went home and told Connie. This bore witness with her so we began to seriously pack. I'll admit, it was hard for me to get into packing seriously until the issue of where to move was settled. Now it was. God spoke something else to me. He said when you move, I will bless you. I wasn't sure exactly what He meant, but it sounded good.

We got to Alabama on March 1st, 2020 and 2 weeks later we were in a lock-down! I had been involved in the ride share business since retiring in 2018. With a pandemic in full force I decided to pull back for a time. But after about 1 week of staying home, God began to remind me that He said He would bless us as a result of our obedience in moving. As a matter of fact, He began to say we would "flourish" during and beyond the pandemic!

I made the decision to team up with companies like Doordash and Grubhub delivering meals from restaurants to diners. The timing and conditions were perfect! During the pandemic, most people desire to have meals delivered to their doorstep providing a complete "no contact" situation. Meal delivery has proven to be not only a safe, but extremely convenient service that multitudes of folks are taking advantage of. God was true to His Word literally causing us to flourish! Never forget, God is no respecter of anyone who will listen, hear, and obey His direction, meaning that if He will do it for us, He will do it for anyone - including you!

The year 2020 has not only been filled with challenges for us all, but also with tragedy for some. I am so sorry that many have been touched by the virus in various ways. This includes my own family. Some have been infected and some have even lost their lives to the virus. My heart breaks for the families of those who have lost loved ones. Only Jesus can provide the comfort and the peace that passes human comprehension. Our part is to pray for you every day.

If 2020 has revealed anything, it has shown us the need to trust in Jesus, more than ever. This year has shown us how desperately we need His protection and simply...Him. It was in the midst of a personal crisis that I cried out to Jesus years ago. He heard my cry and embraced me with an indescribable love that literally consumed my life! I have never been the same.

Always remember, even in the midst of tragedy; especially in the midst of tragedy, Jesus will answer your cry. It seems that we are more open to calling upon Him when we are faced with insurmountable challenges. Nothing is impossible with God. That's because all things are possible with Him. Trust Him my friend. Give Him your life. You won't regret it. I never have. Happy New Year 2021!
