PEACE

Jesus doesn't promise us that as His followers we will never have struggles. What He does promise us is that He will be with us always, even in the midst of the storms of life. With things in our world today spinning out of control, listen to these comforting words of Jesus. “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me." (John 14:1) “These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) What a comfort! Jesus has overcome the world. Matthew's account of the Great Commission ends with this statement by Jesus, "...and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

John later writes under the leading of Holy Spirit, "For whoever has been born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith." (1 John 5:4) Jesus has overcome the world, and those who receive Jesus into their hearts also overcome the world!

Jesus promises you and me peace that passes all comprehension, because in Him we overcome the world, every single day. (See Philippians 4:6-7) Our part as Christ followers is to stay close to Jesus and His Word. We must live according to His Word, applying it to our lives every day.

A distinguishing characteristic of a follower of Jesus Christ should be a supernatural peace, in the midst of challenging circumstances. This peace is connected to the blessed hope we have in Jesus. It is not based on circumstances, but on the truth that Jesus has overcome the world, and has given you and me the same victory!

Put your trust in Him my friend. Hope in Jesus, and experience the supernatural peace that passes all understanding. Peace in the midst of the storms of life is one of the greatest blessings of knowing Jesus. Call on Him now. He is waiting lovingly for you.
