His Presence

I don't know about you, but I am an early riser. Over the years of walking with Jesus I've developed a daily habit of spending time in His life-changing presence, early every morning. "In the morning, LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will present my prayer to You and be on the watch." (Psalm 5:3) I must admit, there is nothing quite like it. His presence sets the course of my day. In His presence, my attitude for the day is established. As I go about my business, I am keenly aware of His presence, and it effects my day in a highly positive manner.

Now when I say "habit" I don't mean something that is legalistic. I have developed an appetite for His presence...by being in His presence. Yes, God is everywhere. He is omnipresent. But through a relationship with Jesus, He is more than simply everywhere, at one time. It becomes personal. He is not just everywhere, He is with me personally and I am strongly aware of it!

Being in His presence first thing is my way of putting Jesus first in my life. Obedience to verses like (Matt. 6:33), "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you", become real to me when I obey them. When we seek Him first, the reality of His kingdom principles come to life in our lives. I'm talking about principles that change our lives, bringing us into intimacy with Him, and causing the lives of others to be changed through us. Nothing is like it!

Let me encourage you to make the effort to "put God first" in your life. How is that done? By seeking Him first! That's quite simple. Never forget, the Holy Spirit's manifested, life-changing, kingdom establishing, never changing, immutable holy presence comes when we determine to seek Him first.

I challenge you to make that determination NOW. Seek Him first. Be consistent at it. You will experience His presence like never before. After all, isn't that what we were created in Christ Jesus for?
